Meet Our Videographer – Desmond “Touch” Touchstone

Among our favorites is our videographer, who stands at the forefront of our talented team. So, without further ado, allow us to introduce you to the maestro behind the lens. Meet Desmond “Touch” Touchstone of My Touch Films.

   

When did you know that you wanted to become a videographer? I guess it kind of hit me at an early age. I used to watch movies with my grandmother and even by myself. And I was just so intrigued about how in movies, one scene will connect to the next scene. And I used to be like, wow, like how do they even do that? Like they get them coming out the door and then they're getting in the car. I was just so interested. One day I went to go see the movie, Belly. I actually skipped school to go see Belly. It was the first time I ever really skipped school. And, I sat in the movie theater all day, watching Belly. I knew from that moment on, that this is what I wanted to do.

Tell us about My Touch Films. What sets it apart from other production companies? I really shoot off of emotion. I have to kind of be attached to what I'm shooting. I can't just shoot anything. Some people just shoot. You know, you call them and they shoot.

I really have to connect with the product or with the brand or whatever it is, because I shoot off emotion. So that's why I love shooting weddings because I'm dealing with real emotion. I'm dealing with love and feelings and happiness. And I'm addicted to those things. So that's really what sets me apart. It's not really more a business. It's really more the connection.

 

You work with a lot of notable women entrepreneurs? What’s your favorite thing about collaborating with them? I love creating. I really like creating with women. It's just dope to see so many black women coming from the same places that I come from and to see their ideas come to life and for them to even trust me with the vision and the idea to bring it to life. It means a lot. I love it. It's not work to me. It's really just fun. We just have fun and we just create the best feeling in the world.

   

You are a pivotal part of the StartHER TV journey to launch. What excites you about StartHER TV? StartHER TV, man, it's something that I'm super excited about. It's different when you know the person behind a project and you sit and talk with that person and you kind of know the passion behind the idea.

I first met Judith when she reached out to me to help her bring a project to life. Judith brought all these beautiful women, different shades of color to downtown Detroit to execute it. Watching her accomplish her vision was exciting. And I was happy to be a part of it.

Another time, we went to Atlanta to shoot with some ladies. It was dope watching Judith - this woman from New Jersey who was living in L.A. - get all of these busy women entrepreneurs together to meet at a big beautiful mansion outside of Atlanta to bring her idea to life.

Like, man, I feel like StartHER TV, I rep it like it is mine. I just love everything about it. And, I know it's going to be big in life. Even if Judith sometimes doesn't believe it, I know StartHER TV is going to be the next best thing to come in the streaming world.
